Daicel Group Policy on the Protection of Personal Information (Privacy Policy)

Daicel Corporation and its affiliates (hereinafter referred to as the "Group") will properly process personal information in compliance with the Act on the Protection of Personal Information (hereinafter referred to as "APPI") and other laws and regulations relating to the protection of personal information as well as guidelines, generally accepted practices related to the processing of personal information, etc., when acquiring, using, and providing personal information. In addition, the Group will clarify its rules and regulations concerning the processing of personal information, and strive to ensure that all employees such as officers, full-time employees, contract employees, temporary employees, and part-time employees, etc (hereinafter referred to as the "Employees") properly handle personal information.
This Privacy Policy applies to the personal information of global data subjects that we process. This Privacy Policy shall apply together with the relevant Group company’s Personal Information Protection Policy (if any), but the latter shall prevail over the former if there is any contradiction between these policies. Further, some categories of the processing of personal information may be subject to more specific policies. In such cases, such specific policies shall supersede this Privacy Policy if the provisions set forth in such specific policies contradict the provisions set forth in this Privacy Policy.

"Personal information" means information that can be used to identify a specific individual such as your address, name, telephone number, and other descriptions, including information that falls under "personal data" as defined in Article 4 of the EU General Data Protection Regulation (hereinafter referred to as "GDPR"). However, personal numbers and specific personal information shall be specified under separate regulations.

2 Provision to Third Parties

Acquirer of personal information as outsourcees are, for example, consultants, employment agents, crowd service providers, and IT vendors.

5 Transfer outside of Japan

The Group may provide personal information to Group companies outside Japan. In this case, such Group company takes necessary measures in accordance with the provisions of laws and regulations of the relevant country.
Some of the Group companies are located in countries which are not recognized under the APPI or the GDPR as providing adequate protection and in such case the company concludes a data transfer agreement with such Group company for sufficient data protection.

6 Retention period of personal information

We will only retain your personal information as long as is necessary for business purposes. We may also retain your personal data if reasonably necessary to comply with legal, and/or regulatory requirements.

You have the right to limit the use or disclosure of your personal information in addition to the rights described in Chapter 1 "8 Customer requests". The Group will respond to requests (the right for disclosure, deletion of personal information) for personal information of individuals residing in California, U.S.A., retained by the Group, for the following periods and to the extent reasonable, in accordance with relevant laws and regulations. Chapter3. Processing of Personal Information of Individuals Residing in China

The Group will comply with the China Personal Information Protection Law and related laws and regulations, handle the personal information of customers residing in China in an appropriate manner, and strive to protect the privacy of our customers.
In addition to Chapter 1, the provisions of Chapter 3 apply to the processing of personal information of individuals residing in China, in accordance with the China Personal Information Protection Law. In the event the contents stipulated in Chapter 1 conflict with those stipulated in Chapter 3, the provisions of Chapter 3 shall prevail.

Chapter4. Data protection information for customers and business partners in EEA

3 Type of personal data collect

We process your data that we receive from you or third parties in the course of business relations. These are usually contact data (name, address, telephone number and e-mail address) and - as far as necessary within the scope of the business transaction - bank and payment (transaction) data (bank, account details, purpose of use, information from publicly available sources, information databases and information services (e.g. internet, commercial register, credit agency) as well as other data which you voluntarily provide us with within the scope of the processing of a project or a contractual relationship or within the scope of a contract initiation.

7 Duration of storage

We process and store your personal data as long as this is necessary for the fulfilment of our contractual and legal obligations. If the data is no longer required for the fulfilment of contractual or legal obligations, it will be deleted after the retention periods, which are primarily based on commercial and tax law, have expired. A different storage period may apply if you have consented to this when the data was collected.

You have the right of access under Article 15 GDPR, the right of rectification under Article 16 GDPR, the right of deletion under Article 17 GDPR, the right to have the processing of your personal data restricted with effect for the future under Article 18 GDPR, and the right to object to the processing of your personal data with effect for the future under Article 21 GDPR.
